Amazon Kindle: Reading App
The page is the format that gains most from more glass, and for most people the pages already live in Kindle.

A reading app has one ceiling, and it is not a feature. It is how much text the app can put in front of you at a size you will still tolerate an hour later. Everything else about the way phone readers are designed follows from that number being small: the obsessive type controls, the care taken over remembering exactly where you stopped.
Kindle is good at both. Font, size, brightness and page colour are yours to set; X-Ray will tell you who a character is without making you leave the page; Whispersync picks the book up on the next device at the line you left it; Page Flip lets you look back twenty pages and return. Highlights, definitions and translations happen in place. Where a local library supports it, you can borrow.
It is also the entry with the least to prove. Amazon does not have to ship anything for the fold to pay off here. More of the same text, at the same size, is the entire benefit.
What the fold changes
Unfolded, the screen sits between a phone and an iPad mini, close to the area of a paperback page. Novels barely care, because they reflow to fit anything you give them. The formats that care are the ones Amazon lists separately: magazines, graphic novels, textbooks and Print Replica titles, all laid out to a fixed page and unable to reflow their way out of a small one. Folded, those are a zoom-and-pan exercise. Unfolded, they are a page.
That is an argument rather than a test. The iPhone Duo has been on sale since 23 October 2026 and this app has not been seen running on one.
